Sophomore Caroline Nawrocki '14 recently won second place in the 2012 Writing For Peace Young Writers contest for her short story “Unparalleled Freedom," a story about a young Romani girl named Luludja who is living in poverty as an outsider in France after she and her family were deported from Bulgaria.

The Lower School was abuzz with anticipation the morning of Friday, May 11 when the students' grandparents and special friends came in for a visit. More than 450 special guests arrived on campus to spend the morning listening to the Jazz Band, meeting fellow visitors, enjoying a little nosh, watching each grade's performance in the Arts Center, and most important, spending time with their grandchild(ren)/special friends.
The GA Middle School was bustling last week as more than 200 grandparents came to visit for a special Middle School Grandparents Day event. Student performances, classes by Middle School faculty and, of course, tasty treats in the Korman Family Pavilion, were just some of the highlights of this great morning at GA.
In honor of their 50th reunion, members of the Class of 1962 traveled to Fort Washington where they had the opportunity to reconnect with friends and classmates while spending the day on campus on April 27.
Like most faculty members at Germantown Academy, Sherri Retif is just a little busy. Not only does she have a full teaching schedule as a member of the Middle School Physical Education department, but she also serves as the Varsity Girls Basketball Coach, and is the co-Advisor of the Middle School Community Service Organization, along with Glenda Daulerio 1760. As close to her heart as these positions are, the title of “volunteer” is the one that elicits a gigantic smile.
