    I love GA because…
"each September a new set of enthusiastic students and advisees enter my classroom and enrich my life as I strive to make a difference in theirs. I love GA because the administration supports me as a teacher and encourages my professional development. I love GA because my colleagues are intelligent, caring, supportive, and interesting professionals who love to learn themselves and who have their students’ best interests at heart. I love GA because it affords me the opportunity to build lifelong relationships with my students and their parents. I love GA because it is my second home."

When you visit my classroom/office/work space, you will see…
"engaged and curious students who are discussing literature, writing in their journals or on laptops, engaging in small group activities, sitting on the floor quietly reading, or browsing through my vast collection of young adult fiction or non-fiction. You will also observe a dedicated professional who loves teaching and building relationships with her students and advisees."

    My hobbies and interests include…
"traveling, gardening, creating counted cross stitch samplers, visiting art museums and aquariums, and watching professional baseball and college basketball. I especially enjoy supporting GA students by attending their concerts, plays, and athletic competitions and staying in touch with my former students. I also enjoy serving on the Executive Board of the PA Council of Teachers of English and Language Arts and actively participating in the National Council of Teachers of English and the Adolescent Literature Assembly of NCTE. It goes without saying that my favorite leisure activity is reading. At the moment, my favorites are novels, plays, and the biographies of British queens."

Engaging with students is important because…
"it gives me the opportunity to get to know my students as people and as learners. It allows me the opportunity to discover their individual strengths and weaknesses as well as their passions. When students are engaged in class, they are excited, eager to learn, and become more invested in their own education."

The book that has meant the most to me:
    To Kill a Mockingbird
