Track & Field: Goldstein Earns No. 2 PA Time at Distance Festival

Germantown Academy senior Abbe Goldstein ran the second best mile time in Pennsylvania this year at the Hoka One One John Hay Memorial Pennsylvania Distance Festival.

WEST CHESTER--At the Hoka One One John Hay Memorial Pennsylvania Distance Festival hosted by West Chester Henderson Higih School, Germantown Academy senior Abbe Goldstein '17 ran the second best mile time in Pennsylvania this year by clocking in with a personal record of 4:48.03, which was also the 11th best time nationally recorded this season. (Watch postgame interview) VIA PA MILE SPLIT: "One of the premiere races at Friday's Hoka One One John Hay Pennsylvania Distance Festival was the mixed mile. In particular, heat four of the mixed mile produced a great matchup between three milers from very different parts of the state of Pennsylvania. Germantown Academy's Abbe Goldstein, Northern's Marlee Starliper, and North Allegheny's Clara Savchik all met in that fourth section for a great post-states matchup. From the east was Goldstein, the two-time PAISAA 1600 meter champ. From central PA was Starliper, a freshman standout who just took third in the AAA 1600 meters at the PIAA T&F State Championships. Then from the west was Savchik, who nearly broke the PIAA meet record in the AAA 3200 meters last week, while winning the state title. In the end, it was Goldstein that took the top spot out of the three, running a new PR of 4:48.03. Starliper clocked in at 4:51.78, while Savchik ran 4:54.46. (SEE VIDEO OF RACE) Several other GA student-athletes also participated, including Issy Goldstein '20, Anna Hennessy '18, Danny Ritz '19, and Oliver Haddow '18. SEE FULL RESULTS. Goldstein will next run at the Brooks PR Invitational in Seattle on June 17.
