Admission Process FAQs

Thank you for your interest in Germantown Academy. Please know that it is in each applicant’s best interest to apply early. The process varies slightly from grade to grade based on the requirements of the specific Division (Lower School, Middle School, Upper School) and the availability of spaces.

How many spaces are available for each grade?

Our traditional entry grades are PreK, K, 5th, 6th, 7th and 9th.

We typically have the following spaces available:
PreKindergarten: 24
Kindergarten: 16
5th: 10
6th: 20
7th: 15
9th: 40

All other grades typically have between 2-6 openings, although these numbers can fluctuate from year to year. We encourage applications to all grades; however, we currently do not accept applications for 12th grade.

How do I begin the Admission process?

By submitting an Admission application.

The application may be submitted online or by mail. Once we receive the completed application, we will notify you by email. Please call the Admission Office at 267-405-7070 with any questions. Only receipt of the completed application (online or printed) will begin the admission process. This process then requires an interview and visit.

The Admission Office will contact you to schedule the necessary appointments after receipt of the completed application. The interview includes a student- or parent- guided tour of the school and the opportunity to meet with an Admission Director. The visit allows the applicant to spend time in our school’s setting. We may be unable to schedule some applicants prior to the first round of admission decisions, depending on the volume of applicants and timing.

Does GA require Admission testing?

GA Admission testing varies with the developmental stages of each child.

Applicants to PK through 1st Grades will complete an on-site assessment during a visit to campus. Applicants to 2nd through 5th grades must complete the WISC-V psycho-educational testing. Applicants for 6th through 11th Grades must take either the SSAT or the ISEE. Review the Additional Resources for Testing here.

Germantown Academy will be a testing site for the ISEE on the following dates:

  • October 28, 2017
  • November 18, 2017
  • December 2, 2017
  • March 3, 2018

It is not necessary to schedule your child's test at Germantown Academy.
