Music

Music is an integral part of the human spirit. Throughout history, in all corners of the world, music has reflected every aspect of our existence. It has provided a way to express our deepest feelings; it has been a joy, a comfort, a call to battle, an adjunct to religion. Music, in all its variety, has been our constant companion. We hope that, through the study of music, our students will come to a fuller understanding of themselves and others.

The fundamental goal of the general music program is to increase the sensitivity of all students to the power of music as an art, and to help them appreciate and understand it in order to respond to it personally. Music is not taught as an isolated subject, but as an integral part of each child’s education. Links are made with language, movement, drama, social studies/history, the visual arts and the environment.
