"integrated learning ~ making connections!"
Fifth Grade is a culminating year of exploring, connecting and growing. Students are immersed in a dynamic academic program with an interdisciplinary approach. It recognizes and supports students as unique individuals while they are also pushed to find their very best self academically.
A range of student knowledge, learning style, interest, and intelligences is considered in developing curriculum that meets their academic and social needs. Fifth Graders receive formalized instruction in study skills such as time management and organization, promoting successful study habits, leadership and perseverance.
Engaging classroom activities, technology integration throughout, overnight environmental field trips, visits to various Philadelphia museums and other local cultural resources, as well as the end of year "Forest Fest," a multifaceted performance, are just some of the hallmarks of the 5th Grade year.
The thematic units are designed to challenge each student to discover and to connect on a global as well as a personal level. A pivotal year in social interactions and emotional growth, the 5th Grade experience is enhanced by the strong relationships established among the students and their teachers. Students leave 5th Grade knowing themselves and are well prepared to meet the challenges that lie ahead, as they transition to Middle School.
